Scudamore’s Punting Co Ltd (Cambridge)

We offer a range of services designed to meet the diverse requirements of our customers. We are open daily throughout the year (conditions permitting), offering on-the-day tours and self-hire punts. Our most popular regular services are briefly outlined below:

·Punt Tours: Sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful River Cam aboard one of our spacious tour punts whilst one of our expert chauffeurs does the hard work! Our tours punts seat up to 12 people and come equipped with blankets and umbrellas as standard.

The College Backs Tour offers the ideal introduction to Cambridge’s most famous sights. Highlights include King’s College Chapel, the Bridge of Sighs and the Wren Library. The tour last 60 minutes and runs daily as a scheduled public service. Tour tickets can be purchased on station or online as preferential rate E-Tickets.

The Ghost Tour explores the “other” Cambridge of supernatural happenings and macabre tales. The tour lasts 90 minutes and combines an atmospheric punt tour of the College Backs with a guided walk through Cambridge's haunted lanes. There is a scheduled public Ghost Tour every Saturday, with extra tours scheduled for Halloween and Christmas. Tickets can be purchased over the telephone or reserved online. Join us, if you dare!

·Self-Hire Punts: Punting is not as easy as it may first appear, but it is great fun! Although punting requires a reasonable sense of balance, most people acquire sufficient expertise without undue difficulty, and our staff are always on hand to offer punting tips. Each punt comes supplied with a pole, paddle and cushions; life-jackets are available upon request. The maximum capacity of a self-hire punt is 6 persons including the punter.

Self-hire punts are available for both the College Backs and Grantchester. The standard form of hire is Hourly, but there are a number of fixed rate options for Grantchester, including All Day Punts and Overnight Punts . • New Self-Hire Craft: We have recently expanded our boat hire choices and now offer brand new single kayaks, and Canadian canoes, as well as row-boats, all for hire towards Grantchester.

• Self-Hire Rowboats: Our rowboats are a popular alternative to punts on the Grantchester stretch of the river. The maximum capacity of a rowboat is 5 persons; life-jackets are available upon request.

• Self-Hire Single Kayaks are less sedate than other craft and thus ideal for fitness enthusiasts. The maximum capacity of a kayak is 1 person; life-jackets are provided and must be worn.

• Self-Hire Canadian Canoes are popular with families and are ideal for wildlife spotting, as they are the least intrusive craft on the water. The maximum capacity of a canoe is 4 persons; life-jackets are available upon request.

• Group Events & Special Occasions: Most of the services mentioned above can be pre-booked in advance, subject to availability and minimum charges. We also offer a wide variety of group activities that can only be pre-booked, such as Treasure Hunts and the Punt & Salsa Class package. We offer also cater for special occasions, such as Birthdays, Hen Parties and Valentine’s Day.
