Anyone take lodgers?

We're moving out of the area in the summer, but my 16-year-old has a place at Hills Road and is desperate to stay in Cambridge. We said we'd look into whether we can find somewhere for him to lodge, but it's been hard to track down anywhere that'll take under 18s. Any ideas?

I would think there are several families in the Cherryhinton Road area would be interested now as the foreign students are noticeable by their absence! (You might try asking the accommodation people at EF.)

Thanks, yes that's an idea. Hosting someone for two years would be a bit different from having language students though!

Good idea re the language students' usual accomodation. Also, might any of your son's friend's parents be up for taking on another youngster...?

Are you going far sam i?

We're going to Hull. No wonder he doesn't want to come.

I like Hull, have got family up there and often thought I'd happily live up that way. Hope all goes well with your move.

Thanks! We're actually moving to Cottingham which looks fine as far as I can see, but it is a long way from everyone and everything we know.

Cottingham's very nice! Was last there a couple of years back, in a pub I can't remember the name of.

Why are you moving Sam? I think I've found your house! Wow. Has a thingy in the garden, right?

My wife's curacy has finished and she can't find a parish locally. (She's retrained as a vicar.) Or rather, the local jobs she could have got weren't very good, for reasons I don't quite understand, and she was very keen on this one.

I don't think we have any thingies in the garden!

Wow, that's quite a change you're undertaking, Sam. How do you feel about that?

Mixed feelings really... not looking forward to the upheaval of actually moving, for sure. Cottingham looks nice though.

Hiya, Sam i, you might not remember me but AGES ago my daughter did a bit of babysitting for you after you put out a request on here. A million years ago in the 70s and 80s I lived in student accomm in Cottingham and enjoyed the access to the countryside, Beverley and seaside. Train station for a quick zip into Hull. Decent pubs &etc but I suspect all has changed since then. But I can think of a million places worse, truly. Have fun young man!

I do indeed! Thanks -- yes actually a lot of that still seems to be true, and the centre of Hull has been regenerated quite a bit, so I'm sure it's OK.

Yeah i bet! I'm glad DeFrev has positive things to say though. That must be heartening.

I wish you all the very best and do let us know how you're doing, not least to fuck bigmal off because you're no longer a Cambridge resident. LOL

Thanks all. My first illegitimate post as a non-Cambridgeshire resident! We're in, most of our stuff arrives tomorrow...
