It was Moza - the first time I went there I wasn't expecting much, because it was a dirt cheap buffet which usually equals shite "Indianesque" curry designed for Westerners who don't know proper Indian food, but it turned out to be pretty decent freshly cooked traditional South Indian style nosh and, unlike many buffets, they didn't come and take your plate away when the felt you'd had your money's worth. Sadly, a lot of people who go to the Leisure Park prefer the sort of crap they dish up in Nando. so Moza is no more. I hear the place next to Shelford train station is very good, if a little bit out of town is acceptable.

I like the Banana Leaf on Milton Road, but the Sri Lankan dishes are better than the Indian ones.

Prana on Mill Road won the Best Restaurant at the British Curry Awards a couple of months ago. The food is lovely and not too greasy, BUT the in-restaurant menu is different to the online one - no scallops when I visited recently. The Golden Curry has gone up in my estimation in the last year or so since their refurb and menu update. Not had a curry in the centre of town for a while, but I did used to like the Maharajah (?) on Castle Hill.

I was not impressed by the Prana at all. I went to the Golden Curry recently and thought it was brilliant.

I'm always suspicious of these best restaurant awards - I used to live near a fish and chip shop that had certificates proving it to have been the best fish and chip shop in the county for five years in a row, but the food was shit. A bit of digging revealed that the organisation that awarded the certificates was a private company which just happened to be owned by the same family that owned the fish and chip shop.

I bet there are companies who'll award you a certificate for anything you like, for a price, similar to mail-order degrees.

I wonder if they do one that says you're the best supplier of spurious certificates?

A colleague of mine went to see Mark Thomas the other week. Thomas pointed out that almost every single chip shop in the country has (apparently) won an award. In the interval Thomas bought a bag of chips from an "award winning" chip shop next to the venue and passed them round the audience for appraisal.

Cheers folks - have decided to go for the Golden Curry where I will sampling either the TANDOORI REZALA
Cooked with green chilli and tamarind, garlic and spices (Off the bone chicken) or JAIPUR CHICKEN
Cooked with chick peas and fresh spices. Washed down with my own body weight in Kingfisher!
