What's happening to Gee's?

download

Went by Gee's the other day, the window displays have gone and all the stock is in boxes, it either is having a major re-fit, or is shutting.
How can we survive without the Cambridge institution functioning?
SAVES GEE'S!!!!!
Apart from Arjuna, and Fagitos, Gee's is the last of the original Mill Road shops, from the great days of Andy's Records and Grapevine Books....

Not good, but probably inevitable.

I remember going in there 30 yers ago, and I remember going in there a month ago, apart from Mrs Gees not sitting in her chair (in teh customers space so she could chat to you) not much has changed. Love Gees and use d it as much as possible, the odd light buld or whatever. When they did nor=t stalk what I was after they always thanked me for trying em first.

I've always suspected that if you don't mind waiting for what you need (say a table-top particle accelerator or suchlike), Mrs Gee would just go upstairs and build one for you.

Mr Gee always had the weird bit of electrical kit you asked for, every single time. A mate of mine once asked for a replacement part for a 1960's tape recorder which wasn't made in the uk. Mr Gee emerged with it within twenty seconds.

I often wondered how big the shop was behind the counter.

So is the Gee Dynasty over?
Is it official?

It'll be a sad day if so.

I wonder if they'll have any kind of clearance sale? I'd love a chance to have a look through some of the stuff they must have accumulated over the years.

"I often wondered how big the shop was behind the counter." Clearly they've converted the back into a tardis.

^ I always imagined the back of the shop is like the Amazon warehouse.
