Who's watching this year, then? Plenty of live coverage on ITV4 and Eurosport plus an hour's highlights on ITV4 at 7pm (and again at some point later in the evening).

Today's Stage 1 is a 14km time trial in Dusseldorf; tomorrow's 203.5km stage begins in Dusseldorf and finishes in Belgium; 212.5km Stage 3 on Monday begins in Belgium, passes through Luxembourg and finishes in France - so even if you're not that interested in the race, there's plenty of scenery.

...and Geraint Thomas becomes the first Welshman to wear the yellow jersey! (Not the first Welsh rider, though, because Swansea-born Nicole Cooke won the Tour de France FĂ©minin twice... quite a few years before Bradley Wiggins won his Tour too, so she's in fact the first British rider to have won the Tour.)

Nasty slippery bit yesterday.....

Probably a patch of smarm dripped on the road by Sagan.

Lacking in smarm now JT. rather harsh I thought, racing innit?

Indeed. I dislike him, but that seemed a bit unfair - looked like Cav was trying to get into a space that wasn't there and Sagan was just trying to disentangle himself from Cav's handlebar to me.

Nice stage today; starting to look like the Tour now!

Unexpected finish today - my money would have been on Froome or Porte!

Meanwhile, at the Giro Rosa (which doesn't get on telly because the mainstream media ignores most women's sport): 21-year-old Claudia Cretti crashed on a descent at 90kph and hit her head on steel roadside barriers. Doctors say it doesn't look too promising.

If you like mountains, today's stage would be a pretty good one to watch: four big climbs, including two hors categorie (Tourspeak for "fucking hard"), one of which is the Col du Galibier - this year's highest route.

Will have to sneakily stream it at work as it's where I hail from! Always lovely for my little region to be seen by the whole world!

I bet every time you cycle up Castle Hill it reminds you of Galibier (note: I haven't ridden the Galibier, but based on how some Cambridge cyclists describe Castle Hill...)
