The original data at http://www.math.uwaterloo.ca/tsp/road/uk24727_tour.html claims to have 24,727 pubs.

To be fair to the University of Waterloo, they're not claiming to have listed all of them.

I remember an old Mr Agreeable column in which he realised his life was empty and he needed a project, so he decided to drink one bottle of beer in every pub in Britain. Proceeding to his local he started the journey. 6 hours later he decided to revise his project to drink every bottle of beer in ONE pub in Britain, before passing out in the corner.
