Melody Maker / NME mags 78-82 up for grabs

I've got a pile of Melody Maker / NME / Sounds mags from between 1978-82. All pretty ragged but readable.

I got them on Freecycle a while back and it's time to pass them on. Would rather not put them in the recycling bin and hope someone on here might want them.

To be collected from the Petersfield area / Mill Road.

Probably slightly too many copies to manage on a bike (though 2 trips would do it). I picked them up on foot using a pull along suitcase.

Why not charge money for them and donate the profits to orphanages, workhouses and miscreant rehabilitation programmes.

I've got a load of old C90 cassettes. All of them are so worn out as to be unlistenable; most have been recorded over several times, and one or two of them have even snapped and been hand-repaired with bits of sellotape.

Would rather not put them in the recycling bin and hope someone on here might want them.

I have heard of a number of projects to scan old copies of the music press and put them online. I certainly saw one for old Melody Makers a while back, but I've just googled and the site is now down, but there are a number of sites who scan odd articles here and there.

Someone should put all these people together and get them to work to make a comprehensive archive, correctly tagged so you could search for specific bands and types of articles by data. It would be a massive task, but there's clearly a market for it.
