[Hedgehog Chat] it's been a tough year

Where have all my friends gone? I haven't seen any hedgehogs this year. Even those poor, unfortunate ones who don't make it across the road in time :(

Yes, I heard something on R4 recently about the demise of the hedgehog, but I'm happy to say i did see a baby one in a friend's garden the other week. It was very cute.

I've seen hundreds of hedgehogs this year, in my new back garden in Ely.

^So that's where they all are - Wrongfellow's nicked them all!

I did offer someone a sack of live hedgehogs for his garden in Cambridge, actually.

I'm glad he didn't take me up on it. I'm not sure how the train crew would have reacted.

how about a hedgehog vlog from Ely? or just some piccies? i know they're usually quite shy

Actually they are far from shy. If I sit quietly on the patio as the sun goes down, they will happily come and snuffle around my feet, and even poke their heads into the back door for a quick look inside.

When the evenings get warmer again I'll see if I can get some pictures. ...starts to construct plans for home-made IR floodlight...

Wrongfellow: fancy going to see if we can find any remains of the tracked hovercraft route around Sutton-in-the-Isle at some point?https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tracked_Hovercraft#RTV_31

Not much of it left, apparently, just some concrete and stuff. Might be interesting though.

I just saw my first hedgehog of the year.

If last year is anything to go by, we'll be ankle deep in the damn things before long.

We saw what we thought might have been a pregnant one the other day.

I hope they come out head first.
