Right, seeing as everyone is being particularly useless about this, I've made an executive decision based on the geographical spread of the WANers I know who are interested in going and have decided on the Panton Arms at 2030 on Wed 23 December. I tried to book a table but they wouldn't let me but said we should have no problem in getting a table. If it's shit we can move elsewhere, maybe to the Alma, possibly the only pub in Cambridge I've never been in. I was going to suggest the hopbine because it's also quite roomy but that's a little further for Kuryakin to travel and he is getting on a bit :)

Would love to have joined you wanners, but can't make it I'm afraid. Out of everyone going for the drinks, I only know BB and bigmal (and I think I know who Wrongfellow is), so am still intrigued as to who everyone else is... Have a drink for me y'all!

The Panton was the very first pub I went to when I moved here - had been in Cambridge three days and my friends and I heard a rumour that Paul Oakenfold was going to be DJing a party near the Panton. When we arrived there was a note on the door of the house saying basically 'Haha, no party and no of course Oakenfold isn't playing!'. So we went to the nearest pub and drank lots and laughed at our naivety. As for the Alma, do they still do 'Toss the Boss'...? (don't worry, not as dodgy as it sounds!)

In fact I think I was last in there in 1980.

Shame you can't make it Miss R and there's no shame in going somewhere in the hope that Paul Oakenfold was playing (Perfecto Fluoro is an all time classic imo). I would've done the same.

Crashed? It didn't even leave the stocks. It had a flat battery, a flat tyre and was leaking oil. It's very likely the cambelt had also gone.

Am looking forward to this - now that only about 12 people use WAN, it will be nice to reminisce about the heady days of 2007 that can never be recaptured.
