I'm afraid
Why do people say "I'm afraid"
"I'm afraid Mr Forthright isn't in today can I take a message?"
Are all these secretaries and receptionists actually afraid to tell the truth. Or are they lying and that's what they are afraid of?
"Mr Forthright hates you and wont take your call"
Are they afraid of the truth?
Can we trust these afraid people?
