Please support the proposed aqueduct over the railway at Ditton Meadows

If we could get the river to flow upwards and across a bridge-like structure above the railway, it would be possible to introduce an "at grade" cycle route here at next to zero cost.

A basic design for the aqueduct has been proposed by Dr S. Hawking of Cambridge University. However, the project requires a certain amount of so-called "exotic" matter with negative energy density - a resource which is hard to come by around here.

A scrap metal dealer who owns a yard not far from the proposed bridge has offered to provide a supply of this material, however he declined to provide us with any contact details beyond a mobile phone number.

So, I would like to ask the good people of WAN if anyone could find it in their hearts to donate some exotic matter so that this groundbreaking project can proceed?

Some years ago, when working for the Council, I used to often receive letters from the Cambridge University silly buggers* society proposing ludicrous solutions to Cambridge infrastructure problems. One example was to solve congestion by allowing cars to drive on the pavements and lowering the trees with a "rising bollard" system. I used to quite enjoy writing mildly sarcastic replies to them. Wrongfellow's solution is far better than anything they suggested. :)

* the same of the society has been changed.

Well, it's certainly more practical than letting cars drive on the pavement. ;)
