Wilton Terrace, Station Road

The developers of CB1 have put in an application to demolish the terrace and replace it with a boring office block. More here in the Cambridge News article today: 'New outcry over high-rise station office block scheme.'

It isn't too late to object. The official deadline has passed but late submissions will be considered. Please object to this application and write to Mrs Sarah Dyer, City Development Manager (the Case Officer). The office block they have planned is as dull as all the others on Station Road.
The Terrace is nice to look at, it surely could be converted into something from within.
The real issue is the traffic volumes that yet an other office building would create.
Try crossing Station road at this point, it's like crossing a road in New Delhi, and that's before they build this one, the hotel opposite and all the other stuff going up at the moment.

I took this panorama from the footbridge to platforms 7 & 8 in May. I was kind of shocked to see that (apart from the station itself) Wilton Terrace is the only pre-20th Century building even visible. (The remains of the Mill are not quite in shot at the left-hand edge).
