Favourite Audible Books?

I have really got into listening to books in the last few years. It is much more convenient and easier for me. I think the narrator can make a big difference. (Apparently authors rarely make the best narrators for their books!).

I recently listened to 'Shark' by Will Self and really enjoyed it. Apparently the print book has few or no paragraph breaks - which seems like a bit of a pain in the arse to me. However, the narrator coped with this well and brought the characters to life with amusing, colourful accents. His reading reminded me a bit of Richard Burton and and the original BBC Radio production of 'Under Milk Wood'.

I've started listening to 'Umbrella' and had high expectations of it seeing as 'Shark' was its prequel. However it is read by someone else. I haven't listened to much of it yet - so hopefully this'll change - but it's just not doing it for me like 'Shark' yet.

Oh - and Mr Mercedes by Stephen King is a brilliant book to listen to with your other half on long journeys!

Anyone else have any books they have enjoyed *listening* to? Favourite narrators?

We've listened to a couple of the Ladies Detective books on long journeys. They are great.

Check out the Von Igelfeld Series but make sure you start with Portuguese Irregular Verbs, funniest thing I've ever listened too.
