Prowler in Cherry Hinton, Malvern Road

I hear a prowler is shining his torch into people's bedroom late at night, every night on Malvern Road, Cherry Hinton. Has anyone else heard of this? I wonder if it's a burglar looking for open windows to clamber up into?

If anyone else heard about these goings on's please reply. Cheers.

The prowler is not a burglar unless he/she steals something and takes it off the premises. Until then he/she is simply a prowler, or a vandal committing criminal damage if he/she breaks a window. If they are open windows that he/she climbs into, it could be a case of trespass (which is a civil offence, the remedy for which is limited to the cost of the damage suffered - which if no window were broken, would be next to nil).

Sorry? Thanks for the lecture about the differences between burglars and prowlers. I never knew that! lol. You seem to have misunderstood my post.

Either he's not made it as far as Desmond Avenue or I have reasonable window coverings.

It's a he, according to the eye-witness from her bedroom window. He shone the torch up into her room. I am sure it's a burglar and is looking for open windows and whether people sleep in the front of the house, and not at the back.
This really should be made known to everyone in the area of Malvern Road and the surrounding streets.

She should definitely call the police if she hasn't already, and perhaps even the 'News.

Good idea, but this person hasn't done anything yet, and maybe even has mental health issues. I was up till 4am watching from my window, but nothing happened.

I just heard today that the County Council have activated the Malvern Close street lights in the last few days - apparently they were put in a while back but only activated now. I guess they probably do that sort of work at night to check it works ok, so your friend could check with the Council if there were men doing this work on the night/s she saw the torchlight - though the Council really should have warned people about the work in advance, so as not to cause alarm.

Thanks, that's very interesting. She says it's been happening every night the last few weeks. Twice a night . This could be the explanation for the mystery, thanks for helping.

Is Cherry Hinton a made up name, or a real place like Chipping Sodbury or Cold Christmas?
