This is Netflicks only so I can't watch it. Therefore I am sulking and thinking unkind thoughts about the producers of it. :(

Published by Silent Rob at 2:07pm on Fri 27th February 2015.

Didn't think it was going to be great, but I'm really enjoying it (and less than enthused that it's only one ep a week). I was expecting something completely different.

I never clicked Saul's name in Breaking Bad - Saul Goodman as meaning -its all good man.

Published by bigmal at 4:34pm on Fri 27th February 2015.

SR that's not strictly true [If this get's the WAN gods in trouble I'm happy to remove it toot sweet - http://streamallthis.is/watch/better-call-saul/s01e01.html]

Like all "stream anything you want" sites, that link doesn't work for me. Wherever I click then it just takes me to an advert site and it doesn't let me watch the programme. I always assumed that these sites were just to bait you in to look at the ads and it was impossible to actually watch the film. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes you announced the death of Spock before me.

Spock doesn't die until Stardate 8130.3. You can announce it again then.

I'm using Firefox with Adblock Plus, and don't get any popup ads, just watching the first episode now while having brunch, so yes it is you. Maybe your ISP is deciding what you can and can't access? I've heard this is happening with tor*^%ent sites, so streaming sites are maybe on their radar too. I use an indy

Just tried again in Firefox. After skipping the ads and downloading their player it works, just about, but it's very jerky and almost unwatchable, it gives the impression that it is going to crash any moment. It's like when I try and watch a film on daily motion, I'm just getting into it when an ad pops up and makes my laptop crash. Thanks anyway but I'll probably wait for the DVD like I usually do. :)

Published by Silent Rob at 4:22pm on Sat 28th February 2015.

Why don't you just get Netflix?

Published by bigmal at 8:13pm on Sat 28th February 2015.

I didn't get any ads, so you'd probably need to add the adblock plus firefox plugin. Sure, the dvd will be better quality, though on a laptop not always that much better. I tend to get worse at episode bingeing. If I watch something from the iplayer, such as Death in Paradise I need to download it or watch very very late as streaming tends to get interrupted at peak times in the day, though didn't get that with Better Call Saul ep.1, so going to watch ep.2 now with my dinner :)

Cheers, I will try the adblocker this week.

I'm never up late anymore (baby ensures I am always up before 5am) I have to watch these things at peak times, so that's probably why I have problems. BBC Iplayer works just about at peak times. 4od works so long as I don't maximise the screen (I'm not exactly sure why that is). YouTube works if I let it buffer for a bit first. All other streaming sites just seem to freeze.

I refuse to get Netflicks just to watch one programme bigmal. I had a look at their selection a while back and it seems to be largely modern films and to, not the culty classics a prefer to watch. So there just isn't enough on there to justify the cost.

Published by Silent Rob at 6:13am on Sun 1st March 2015.

You can ad-block (hola) Netfix as well and get America, Canada etc loads more than the UK only selection. For £6 a month I think it's well worth it.

Published by bigmal at 7:51am on Sun 1st March 2015.

I really like the BFI streaming service. I wish it was cheaper though.

^that's why I don't have Netflix too, they have a poor selection of films (unless you are wedded to the recent Hollywood releases, and while there are some good titles they are the exception not the rule). I still get dvd rentals with Cinema Paradiso, but even there there are a lot of indy titles I have to download from other sources because they don't have a uk release dvd when it is available on ebay or amazon, crazy license rules. Sadly it's the indys that tend to do this, I've seen some great films at Arts Picturehouse over the years that never appeared on dvd for whatever reason, no wonder people resort to pirating but it's probably the indys losing out more than Hollywood, whatever Bigelow and others think

Agree with that foolscap. Netflicks is good enough for many people but it's just not enough for me. I still watch 80% of my films and TV on DVD. I very often buy a DVD from zoverstocks for a few pounds, watch it, then either ebay it or charity shop it. It is often the cheapest way to do things. I wish it wasn't though, I am one of those people who are destroying the high street while Amazon get richer and richer.

i get it free (well for 6 months) thru my Tivo box.

another option that avoids making amazon any richer, though not tried it for this, currently catching up on 24 season 7 - http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/internet/better_call_saul/

I've also just discovered that when streamallthis asked me to download a programme before I could watch Better Call Saul last week it has filled my laptop with horrid adware, which I am now getting rid of. I'm just not very good at being illegal, so I think I'll stick with DVDS. Thanks anyway though.

Right, the smartsaver link above has put the Smartsaver 21 virus onto my laptop. It was definitely that link because it was fine until I downloaded the software it asked me to, and now my laptop is full to the brim of shitty adware that I just can't get rid of.

How can I get rid of Smartsaver 21 techie people of WAN please?

Published by Silent Rob at 2:53pm on Thu 12th March 2015.

I'm certainly not using streaming sites ever again. More trouble than they are worth.

Published by Silent Rob at 3:03pm on Thu 12th March 2015.

I kinda feel bad about this, though can't see a Smartsaver 21 link. Yes most of these sites have gambling ads which is why I wouldn't use them without a popup blocker like Ad Block Plus. AVG 2015 free usually warns me if it thinks a site has a virus risk, but hey you can pickup adware just from downloading free programs from CNET Downloads. I searched UK ISP Court Orders and learned that the big six: BT, EE, TalkTalk, O2, Sky, and Virgin Media, are blocking torrents, and probably some streaming sites too.

I wouldn't download anything from a site that told me it needed to, your Flash Player needs to be updated is usually rubbish, and more likely some dodgy adware. This seems to be one of several ploys on a number of sites, though I just ran through 19 sites for 24 season 8 episode 1 and only 2 were dodgy - FileNuke and ShareSix - the rest streamed the episode after a few seconds without any unexpected nasty surprises and a few no longer had it on their servers.

I've heard good things about Malwarebytes Anti-Malware but haven't used it in ages, and it's not currently on my laptop, only AVG and CCleaner - http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware but if you have Windows, run SafeMode and take it back to an earlier Restore Point

Cheers FS, sorry to be grumpy yesterday, in hindsight I think I might well have overreacted.

I think I might have fallen for the "flash needs updating" one. Lesson learned!

I had the day off yesterday so I ran a good system clean and updated my firewall and other bits. I'll try your Anti Malware at the weekend. Googling shows that System 21 is fairly easy to get rid of.

Thank you!

Last Tuesday's episode was the darkest yet, didn't have enough of Saul in it....

Published by Priority 23 at 8:11am on Fri 13th March 2015.

Also: I am completely baffled why people make Adware at all. If you get your computer hijacked by a series of annoying and intrusive ads then you are simply not going to rush out and use the advertisers services are you? In fact it is clearly going to have the opposite effect, more a stick to drive you away.

They do it because it works ... and it works because most people have the attention span of a goldfish, and any anger they might at first feel soon gives way to "Ooh, shiny!"

I am now ad free! Cheers FS!

Published by Silent Rob at 3:19pm on Sat 14th March 2015.

it's good to know, thanks.

The last episode was basically Mike's back story, and how he ended up in Albuquerque. It'll be interesting to see how this goes from now to working for the cartel. I liked it, makes more sense than Jimmy's

Better Call Saul sounds excellent. I do hope that they release the DVD soon. It's available for pre order on Amazon, but with no release date yet, just a selection of moranic three word Amazon reviews under the title.

Oh, I've just noticed that Netflicks do a free trial. I propose joining, watching all of Better Call Saul, then cancelling my membership before they charge me. How many more episodes are left to run? I don't want to join and then find I can't watch all the episodes.

I've just watched the Mike backstory one now. I enjoyed the first three epsiodes, they had the tense moorishness that Breaking Bad had. The next two were a bit "meh". I'll have to see if it gets better.
