or "Where do old Cookers go to Die pt.2" (like Die Hard, but without John McClane)

So a friend of mine thinks my oven can be fixed, and looking into this a bit he might be right. It's just that the model of Belling is so old it no longer features on their website, so would be a bit of a gamble to buy a part based on a hunch. The oven has two side elements like this: http://www.how-to-repair.com/oven-side-oven-heater-element.html?___SID...

Is there anywhere locally that sells electric oven parts, I'm guessing it's too specialised for Gees, and has anyone fitted an oven element? I'm going to have to disconnect the old one anyway, but for £50 plus a micrometer I'd need to check the elements is it worth the gamble, and a new one could mean a more energy efficient cooker

In my experience there is no such thing as "too specialised for Gees". Time and time again they have astounded me with having that exact little bit of obscure electrical gear you need, every single time. I'd say it is worth trying them. You never know.

I use espares - see http://www.espares.co.uk/search/ma154pt1595/cookers-and-hobs/elements/....

You don't need a multimeter - you can check continuity with a 9v battery and judicious use of the tongue, You should also check that there is no continuity between the element and the outer case. Disconnect from supply before using this method!

A new element won't mean a change in energy efficiency - it will (probably) have the same energy (wattage) rating as the old one. consumption is more dependent on the efficiency of the insulation.

Have you tried ebay? This element has the same code as the one you've linked and is considerably cheaper. Might be worth a punt at that price.

Thanks, I'll keep that one in mind, there was a similar one on Amazon, though sure it was generic to several brands. I just need to find the model number, since it's not on the top where it says Belling Compact Auto Deluxe

I had a baby belling for years. you couldn't use both rings if the oven was on. Infact i seem to remember you couldn't use both rings at the same time.
The culinary creations produced on this disabled cooker were supreme.
