Who buys old 78s in Cambridge

I have hundreds: mainly review copies from the 1930s. Orchestral, some comedy, light opera, popular songs of the day etc. All in original sleeves and in good nick. Who buys this stuff? Any help gratefully received...!

I've just bought a phonograph that plays 78's, from one of the charity shops on Mill Road. Just need to get a new stylus and will then be looking to build on my collection...! Would be interested to know what you've got on offer.

Miss R, I'm in the process of cataloging them. From a quick look, it looks like I've some comedy songs and skits, tons of classical and lots of light music of the day, which is mainly the 1930s. Once I've got a free weekend to make up an excel sheet I'll PM you.

Obvs don't catalogue 'em just on my account (I'm sure you weren't) but yes please do pm me when you've got a list.

I'm doing a social work placement with people with dementia at the mo. One of the most amazing ways of gaining a moment of clarity is through music.
I can't offer you money Defrev but is any of your old 78s aimed at people of the 70s plus age group that you'd be willing to part with for free?

Bigmal, I thought about donating them to old folks' homes but since they are from the 1930s they probably wouldn't be of much interest to seventy year olds. You'd have to be seriously old to remember stuff from 1932! But if you think there's an interest and they have a phonograph then I'd be happy to donate some discs.

OK I'll find out... What sort of stuff is it you have. I might ask for a couple for the reminiscence therapy if thats ok.

Have you got 'You're never fully dressed without a smile' by Burt Healey and the Boylan sisters? My dad liked that song. He was stuck in a time warp and would have been 83 years old if he was still alive today. I did enjoy listening to that track on Christmas day last year as it made me think of him and also compared it to Sia's 2014 version.

I dunno Jude - not catalogued them yet. If I turn this title up I'll let you know, young thing.

I saw a guy playing 78s before Boo Hewerdine's Christmas gig in Ely, The Shellac Collective, not sure where he's based but has a massive collection of 78s,
