When I was at uni all these ventriloquists discovered that if they made their puppets swear then they could revive their flagging careers in front of packed houses of drunk students. I'm fairly sure that the "X Rated Keith Harris and Orville" played at my uni a number of times.

"How are you today Orville?"
"F*ck off!!"

I never went. I always felt sorry for them.

Published by Silent Rob at 12:03pm on Tue 28th April 2015.

If the fat dancer out of Take That can have a successful solo career, I see no reason Orville can't.

Published by John Techno at 12:08pm on Tue 28th April 2015.

Now I think about it I know that Rod Hull's son just took over Emu. Sooty is on the third generation. So there's no reason why Keith Harris jr couldn't take Orville onwards.

Published by Silent Rob at 12:12pm on Tue 28th April 2015.

I think it's more likely Orville will be possessed by the ghost of an executed murderer and go on a killing spree, probably resulting in five or six really bad films.

Published by foolscap (not active) at 5:33pm on Mon 17th August 2015.

60% of Dr Who is solid and perfectly entertaining, if a bit silly. 20% is completely dire and 20% is utterly brilliant. Occasionally it has a few years where 60% is utterly brilliant - such as early Jon Pertwee, early Tom Baker and the first few years of David Tennant - then it goes back to normal, like it had been for the last 8 years.

I think that fans of Neighbours like it for similar reasons that I like Dr Who, it's basically pure story and you have to use your imagination to get past the shoestring budget. it seems obvious to me that neighbours would be vastly improved by adding some rubber monsters and a radiophonic soundtrack. That would sort out the decline.
