Pubs - particularly, the Dev

Is it open this evening? I was drinking Carlsberg all day yesterday and I need some proper beer in order to regain a harmonic spiritual balance.

I believe it is.

I will be putting this belief to the test at about 7.30 or so.

Yep, it is. I went to the Kingston instead, but it was too crowded so I only stayed for one.

I've seen ads up for a Guinness West Indies Porter. Is that different to their usual stout, and has anyone tried it?

They have two new porters - West Indies and Dublin. I haven't tried them yet, but they're different to the usual Guinness stout - one is weaker, one is stronger.

Thanks JT. Are they available at the Dev? I saw the Dublin Porter on the Guinness youtube site but just assumed it was something that was for the local Irish market.

They're not in the Dev, but you can buy three bottles for a fiver in the supermarkets.

I've tried them both and they are quite drinkable. I think I preferred the Dublin one.

The Oscar Wilde stout currently on tap for three quid a pint in the Kingston is also very drinkable, by the way.

The Guinness West Indies porter is OK, though there are better stouts/porters around. Haven't tried the Dublin one.
