I saw a woodpecker today. It jumped out of the bushed along Trumpington Road as I drove along. It looked a bit embarrassed.

I was once asked to choose my favourite from among several groups of woodpeckers, each group being composed of members of the same genus. I quite liked the look of the Celeus from Central America, but the Green woodpeckers seemed especially keen that I chose them. "Picus, Picus!" they cried, so I did.
