Morning All

I, like Nicky, am pleased to help organise this event to raise much needed funds for Oxfam. Oxjam is Oxfam’s month-long UK music festival.

It runs all through October with hundreds of events around the UK, which make it the UK’s biggest festival line-up . It has been going since 2006 and has raised more than £1.2 million, enough to buy 10,619 emergency shelters or 705 classrooms.

Several other cities across the UK have Oxjam Takeovers (multi-venue events like this weekend's 'Wish you Were Here' or Camden Crawl, which showcase local emerging talent). It would be great to talk to local people interested in helping to put on a Cambridge Oxjam Takeover for next year (and we have set up a facebook goup - Oxjam Cambridge if you would like to get involved in this).
In the meantime, this event at the Haymakers this year is a chance to see a host of Cambridge´s finest festie bands and performers indoors in the warm. There are seven talented local acts on the bill, and there should be something for everyone.

Hope to see some of you a week on Friday .... mike :-)

Here Here Rockin....I am really glad that we are working together to make this event happen for the reason Rockin has explained above. It is about bringing people together and making them aware that there are people out there that are a lot worse off than we are and if we can help build awareness for that and raise fund to give these people a better life then it is worth while to be organising an event such as this. It is good when you can think about others apart from your self we are one big world and we all have to live in it and by helping each other it makes it a better place.

So Dagg this is why I am so proud of putting an event on like this!!!!!

"Humankind" is the oxjam moto (It gives you something to think about doesn't it!!!!)

I hope to see you all there on Friday 1st October Door open @ 7pm

This is the first year that we are putting on such a worthy event and as Rockin said if you are interested in getting invovled next year please let us know. We would like to organise an 1 day or weekend multi -venue event a takeover of the city!!!!!!!

Either contact on here or via our facebook page to get involved and stand up and be counted for the biggest month long music festival in the UK

Nicola :-)

Look forward to see you there Mac...Thankyou for your pre support of our event!!

Apart from the seven great acts, we will be including a few other bits and pieces on the night (check out our facebook event page for the latest info.) http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=152075538143482&ref=mf

One of these is a raffle to raise more funds for Oxfam - big thanks to Johnny Borrell (Razorlight) and his band for signing a drum-skin that will be one of the prizes. Johnny is one of the star performers that are launching the national Oxjam event up in London next week.

You should be seeing the posters and flyers around Cambridge now. Please come along and/or share the event with your on-line friends and tell/drag along your real live friends :-)

Only a week to go...can't wait
