Are foxes cool?

I ask because there's one living on the roof of my shed right now. A big, red one. It's been in and out of the garden for a few days and seems to have some kind of den up there in amongst the ivy.

Is he here to make trouble?

We've had foxes living under our shed for a few months and they have now broken into the shed itself - it f***king stinks in there.

They were cute when small but I'm now thinking of flooding them out - skanky vermin!!

Never knew that about snails and slugs! Currently I dispose of them in a slightly horrible way - feeding them live to our visitor would be better.

Foxes are pests.

Yes, DR, it hasn't started using the garden as a litter tray (God knows about the roof) but that might change my mind about him/her. Powerful stuff, isn't it!

Humans are the vermin.

I'm in Brighton. And in a fairly urban bit of the town too, was quite surprised to see it. It's a lovely view of the sea from the shed roof, so the fox obviously has taste! ;)

A few years ago the fox might have attracted swarms of rampant aristocrats with their horses and their dogs. Thankfully, the aristocrat problem has largely been dealt with. They gave TB to badgers, you know. And gin to children.

It could have taken refuge from the posh bastards living in the gardens backing onto mine. In fact, I'm sure it had a monocle in its mouth.

Urban foxes do look great...but the moment we put our bunnies out in their hutch, old renard was round within minutes. Teeth marks all over the wood, scratches on the felt...two very scared rabbits.

I did a bit of research and talked to some chap from the Urban Fox Society or somesuch and he said that we shuldn't feel bad about discouraging foxes because they always have at least one spare den to go to. Cunning you see.

They often claim allowances for their second den, then rent it out.
