there's a place I think called Mackay near the court on new market road behind the grafton centre - they advertise they have fireworks

Don't even buy fireworks. Selling explosives to the public is totally stupid and should obviously be illegal (in my most humble of opinions).

Sparklers are ok though:-)

I once got several packets of sparklers, scraped all the stuff off and tried to make the worlds biggest ever sparkler. Sadly it didn't light properly.

You can buy flying lanterns (based on paper lights that used to be lit in ancient China). You write a wish on them and then light them and hope it comes true. Awwwh, that's sweet. And nicer to animals and stuff.

I was thinking cats since I get shredded by ours from October through till Christmas because of the noise so mices didn't cross my mind. The dog goes nuts too but I think he has sympathy pains for the cat. The answer is not to have pets I think.
