What song best represents Cambridge?

BBC Five Live have been running a thing all week about what songs best represent the country's big cities so their listeners have picked Waterloo Sunset for London, Walk on for Liverpool, Fools Gold for Manchester etc.

So come on WANers, what song by a Cambridge artist would represent Cambridge?

NB - the original 'brief' was a song by a Cambridge artist. This is too hard!

I agree with Jude, on reflection maybe it is too hard to think of Cambridge artists, it is tiny town in comparison to the others I guess.

A place you deserve - Broken Family Band

"When you hold out your hands I bet they're shaking
Do you still smoke enough for two?
The air that you breathe it's all fake there
Up here its thick and strong

Why don't you come back and live in the city?
Come and live in the city with me
Change the dirt under your fingernails
And see how happy we can be"

Some songs by Cambridge artists about Cambridge (apologies for inaccurate titles etc.):

UM 'One Day I'm Gonna Buy This Town', also 'Caught Myself Out', the one with the lines 'I'm trash and I know that I am/And I should just chuck myself in the Cam (Voice of self-criticism: What!? Off a bridge?).

Also 'There's So Many Voices' by The Doozer, which is about going into Gee's to get a new voice.

Ezio - Alex

Oh - and Alex, this is your song
I would like to see it fly
Above the roofs of Cambridge
So that one day you'll be mine

CAMBRIDGE

Wired
only halfway wired to some uncelebrated dream
Wired
in the back page listing where dust fills in the seams
We are found in no place
We are forgotten phrase

Wired
dancing across the wires like puppets on a string
Wired
and our hearts in sequence beat around a ring
We leave no stone unturned
We leave no fire unburned

There's no second guessing
for things that are out of our hands
and no tears of regret for nights that will never
heppen here in Cambridge

Broken
and our vows like split leaves
fall to earth apart
Broken
in the spaces where we never found a spark
I remember street signs
I remember plans

Once as twice
and twice as once
and once is never enough
here in Cambridge

people do love a good moan though. for all the time and effort some people put in complaining about living here, they could probably have moved long ago.

Fuck, I love my house, Il ove my friends and my life as a whole. I do like Cambridge very much for a lot of different reasons. It's just a bit pokey really and soul-less at times.

Moving requires actually doing some househunting and looking for relevant jobs in said area that will pay enough. Spending years whinging about the town you're living in when you actually moved back to said town from London seems a bit silly.

I didn't have a choice, my little brother had died suddenly and my parents had broken down with the grief. I had to come back...

I lost my career in London, I left my friends... I'm not bitter and I enjoy my life as much now as I did then.

I love Cambridge, I hate it too..

I wished there more more bands I liked... to have a local band I could believe in, that'd be something.

I think if Cambridge was bigger it'd throw up more good bands. As a percentage we've probably got the same proportion as other town, but we've got a tiny population.
