Pinback

One of my fave bands in the world, (although their last album wasn't their best)

I want to put them on more than life itself. E-mail me please.

Pretty much all my friends would come to this. And I know others who would travel down.

"Autumn Of The Seraphs" is a very good record, but I don't think it's their best. Blue Screen Life is that album by some way IMO.

Still, I think Rob Crow is such a unique songwriter that I don't think anything he has ever written is less than excellent. It took a while for Summer In Abbadon to grow on me, most likely due to the production values, but with time I learnt to love it. Some of his side-projects are pretty special too - try and get hold of the Other Men album "Wake Up Swimming" if you can. It's Rob with his old friends from Heavy Vegetable. It's a very accomplished and listenable record, especially if you consider its simply a side-project.

I emailed them about playing here months ago, never heard back.

Likewise, but it was through their MySpace. I imagine they get a lot of messages.

never really bothered with his other stuff. recently downloaded the solo album and it didnt do much for me. 3 mile pilot on the other hand are as good as, if not better than pinback.

I had better check 3 Mile Pilot out, have been meaning to for ages - Other Men is really technical, more guitar based than Pinback.

I will report back with details, according to the booker, currently, they are scheduled for a day off on november 23rd. I'm trying to get the dudley corporation (their support act on tour) a gig on that day, as they'll be a long way from home and need to play to keep warm and that, Dudley is talking directly to Pinback about playing that date, rather than going through the booker, so it may well happen.

Three Mile Pilot were/are WAY better than Pinback. Been waiting for their new album/tour for as long as I can remember. They played the T&G25 thing in Chicago I think.

I think James was after it more than me, but I'd like to hear it too, I do dig the black heart procession (which is also ex 3mile pilot right?) Lots of Italian people I know really dig 3 mile pilot, I don't know if that means anything?

The first 3 Black Heart Procession albums are all totally amazing, then they got very shit very quickly. Sucks.

Listened to Another Desert, Another Sea for the first time in years this morning, top stuff.

I realised the other day that I haven't actually heard Pinback since their first album, and I've only just realised how much they've released since then. What would be good to check out next?

I like the EPs, particularly the one with the song Grey Machine (i think it's called Offcell), but bluescreen life is the winner (well pop)

Blue Screen Life is great. Still has lo-fi production, but probably the most consistent and varied set of songs. Summer In Abaddon is very good but sounds too clean and polished.

I don't like the first album as much as these two. Ian is right, the EP's are worth tracking down too. They're all on Indietorrents..
