The Bridge out at Waterbeach is really good if you can get there- it's a pub/restaurant that feels more like a restaurant. Old wooden beams and candlelight with lots of nooks to give a bit more of a sense of seclusion.

Thanks, has anyone been to Backstreet Bistro in the last few weeks. I heard a hit and miss report on it from a few people.

Smithy, I went there in july (the one on Thurston street). The food was ok, although nothing to rave about to my taste; But the ambiance is cosy and intimate & the service was very friendly. (food wise i've just come back from France, so I might be a bit inclined to compare...) Happy Anniversary anyway :)

Thank you ;).
I'm at work and thus feeling very unromantic :(

I expect D'Arry's where the Cambridge Arms was would be all romantic. I went there yesterday, but was just running around it, having loud inappropriate conversations, probably annoying the staff, and comparing the structure to the old Cambridge Arms circa 1995-ish.

Went to the Bridge at Waterbeach for my birthday about 2 weeks ago - it's gone down hill, nowhere near as good as it used to be.

Apparently the new place just before the bridge on Hills Road whose name I cant remember but begins with A is good. Possibly not the most romantic of loactions, but foodwise I've heard good things. I may be wrong but I think the head chef used to work at Midsummer House.

For things like this I always get taken to: The Rainbow Cafe, The Free Press or CB2s it's always very romantic and because they're not pricy I get to have pudding too, yum!

That is correct - Alimentum does have the Midsummer House chef. Its pricey but very good for the money.

Sadly I didn't manage to get to any further than the mighty Moghul Tandoori! Hopelessly late at work on a magazine that refused to die. Plus I can't drink at the moment due to medicine. Anyway I ate an entire (apologies in advance on the spelling) aloo gobi byriani, mushroom bhajee and two pompadoms (with apple and blackcurrant squash to drink... yeah, I know..weird).
