Twenty20

OK this starts on Tuesday and as normal I will putting some small bets on.
This is where things get a bit more complex, as there are 12 teams up for the cup.

Now the bets I put on are as follows

Top batsman.
Most runs.
Highest score.

Top bowler.
Most wickets.

Most outfield catches.

Winner.

Batsmen - Jayasuriya, Symonds, Pietersen, Ponting (if he plays), Styris, Smith and Mahendra Singh.

Bowlers - Lee, Flittoff, Vettori, Pollock, Edwards, Asif. (this is easier as Shoaib has been sent home after a punch up in the dressing room).

Catches - Collingwood or Pointing.

Winner - England, Aus or New Zealand.

So can you help me out with any other players you could do well?

A few pints up for grabs if I win big.

Plus a good bet will be Scotland to beat Pakistan on the 12th.

Wouldn't bet on Flintoff -- what are the chances of him playing all the games without crocking himself?

Bowling wise, I like Fidel Edwards but can't see him doing that well in Twenty20. Malinga might be worth a punt, although he hasn't done very well this summer. I reckon Brad Hogg might be a good bet -- he did bloody well in the world cup. Nathan Bracken not a bad choice either. The two Indian spinners have looked pretty good in this one-day series.

Batting... can't see Dhoni or Symonds getting all that many runs, because they bat six or seven. Herschelle Gibbs might not be a bad punt, or maybe De Villiers. What are the odds on Luke Wright? I wouldn't be surprised if he opens for England, that's what he does for Sussex.

OK This is what I've gone for.

Top bat G Smith
Most runs Collingwood
Highest score Pointing

Top bowler Mohammad Asif
Most wickets Shane Bond
Most outfield catches Colingwood

Winner England

and best bet Scotland to beat Pakistan.

How do the ratings for top bowler and batsman differ from most wickets/runs?

Surely you have to go for someone who bats up the order for the most runs -- if England's top order actually fire then Colly won't get enough time at the crease.

yeah, but economy (for bowlers) and strike rate (for batters) must play a part, no?
