do any of us actually do any work?

ok, ive noticed over the few weeks ive been signed up to this, that we use it so much during the day.

i know some of the users must work as i do... so the question is

do we actually do any work?

Yup, I have sent 20 quotes to global universities this morning and i will be relabeling 600 copies of our general catalogue due to printing errors this afternoon.

Today I have been mostly drafting copy for an e-news mailout, and booking lighting and electricity for an exhibition.

My life is sooo glamorous.

I work my arse off - have little interludes on here if I'm printing stuff - as now-, or grabbing a coffee or lunch 'break' (which involves eating sandwiches during a five-minute period during which I can guarantee that 4 or 5 people will knock on the door and demand my attention). I embody the protestant work ethic - which is ironic as I am basically so opposed to the fetishisation of work as an end in itself. I would retire tomorrow if I became suddenly and unexpectedly wealthy enough.

I've been finishing some software for the silicon tracker at CERN, and have now run out of things to do so I'll think of something else. I'm listening to Brian WIlson productions and have just been for a nice bike ride around Coton :-)

It depends on the boring-ness of my job. If my job is fuckboring, I go on wan all the time. My previous job was dull, but very busy, so I hardly had time to waste talking to messageboardwhores. My current job is great and really interesting, so I only really wan at lunch time. ('To wan' is a verb now, dontcha know.) I have a day off today. Went for a balloon flight this morning, twas an xmas present from the Mighty BooBoo from 2005 - it just kept getting cancelled due to shitty weather but it was amazing and worth the nearly 2 year wait!!

It took off from the golf course at Longstanton then went across to Comberton. You would have seen the ones that have taken off from the same place.

Ironically I have less time to post here since giving up full time employment last year.

I do so much work it is insane. If I actually chatted here on a regular basis my projects would fall apart. I do like this place though. Good breather material!

In my opinion Friday's should be a day of winding down after a week's hard work.... why is it today that I suddenly have heaps to do and not enough time to do it?! Grrrr.

Published by Lady Many Questions at 10:35am on Fri 7th September 2007.

Fridays are the worst for me. I supervise an entire an office and this is our reports day. I have to give progress reports to Warners, Roadrunner, One Little Indian and a host of independent artists by the end of the day and every Monday they respond with their queries/love/complaints. Most of the bigger artists have huge egos and its nigh on impossible to keep everyone happy at the same time. So, basically, I have 14 reports to do myself, then I have to check everyone elses, and then, somehow, I need to get to The Junction for 5.30. And normally I don't finish everything until half 7. Today is going to be tough.
