Led Zeppelin

If anybody cares, the chatter re. Zepp playing at O2 in November is very loud - looks like official confirmation is just around the corner - time to get blagging hat on methinks!

oh fuck yeah!! What constitutes Led Zep these days though (lineup-wise)?

Published by mowgli at 11:07pm on Fri 31st August 2007.

Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and their humungous egos, I'd expect.

Published by Robadob at 11:09pm on Fri 31st August 2007.

Page, Plant, Jones and Bonham Jr - apparently!

Published by Dr Rhythm at 11:59pm on Fri 31st August 2007.

Im interviewing Jimmy Page on Nov 5th in London for the radio show. Am kinda hoping an annoucement will be preceeding it too, if there isnt, I'll ask him (not that he'll answer!) There is also talk of a Yardbirds reunion too tho with Page and Beck teaming up with the other former members.

Lets hope lawnmower deth reform too , keep the classics alive.

Apparently there is going to be a press conference on Weds to announce the o2 date.

Lets see (a) how quickly it sells out and (b) how much we all get stung for this.

There was of course a rumour that they were going to play Glastonbury this year. Was a bit gutted they didn't. They may be a bit rusty in their old age (apart from drummer)though...

Published by Tonester at 12:31pm on Mon 10th September 2007.

...and presumably Robert Plant doesn't get his lemon squeezed as much as he used to these days.

It'll be impossible get tickets.

I really wish my father had named me after a 70's rock star I actually like. It would be much cooler.

I notice Pete Townsend and Bill Wyman are taking part too.

For £125 I expect Jimmy Page to be my personal alarm clock and wake me up with a rendition of Stairway :0)

Just managed to register for my chance of a ticket, for what it's worth! I one of 20 million people to have registered according to the BBC website!

"I hate Led Zeppelin" by Screeching Weasel.

Robert Plant is a slimy fuck
John Bonham man, he really sucked
Those greedy fuckers, those phoney shits
They made their money off idiots

I hate Led Zeppelin (x2)

12 dollar concerts were all the rage
They bought cocaine for Jimmy Page
"Stairway to Heaven" makes me see red
Bonzo's buried, only three more left

I hate Led Zeppelin (x2)

Published by ababoonsass at 12:07pm on Thu 13th September 2007.

Someone else did a song a couple of years back called "I really really really fucking hate Led Zeppelin", or something. Never heard the track though.

What's the link to apply for tickets please? Tried the Harvey Goldsmith website but I can't see any reference on there...and I don't want to get ticket trouted!

"John Bonham man, he really sucked"

Geeez, if someone does an anti Led Zep song, they could at least get their facts right. JB certainly didn't suck!! RP probably is slimy fuck though.

Published by jake_furious at 1:17pm on Thu 13th September 2007.

I've always liked the drums and bass on Led Zeppelin records. The guitar is alright, when Jimmy Page isn't soloing us all to sleep (which is often). I really really hate the vocals and the pompus boring song arrangements.
Thus Led Zeppelin always remind me of the finest whiskey in the world, mixed with warm Tesco value diet strawberryade. Undrinkable and fustrating.

Published by Silent Rob at 1:41pm on Thu 13th September 2007.

"Rock n Roll" is one of my all time favourite songs... ever... "Stairway to Heaven" is a song that makes me want to kill... I hate it. I like Meat Loaf more than Led Zep.

Published by ababoonsass at 1:42pm on Thu 13th September 2007.

Stairway to Heaven is excruciating from start to finish. Unless it's the Rolf Harris version.
Although the Dread Zeppelin version is very funny too.

Published by Silent Rob at 3:12pm on Thu 13th September 2007.

There is a good Zappa version all arranged for brass with a reggae lilt. The solo is faithfully reproduced by the horns and trumpets note for note.

Published by tofuescape at 3:23pm on Thu 13th September 2007.

I seem to remember there was a compilation of Stairway to Heaven cover versions a few years back. It had the Rolf Harris version, but none others I recognised at the time.

Although they're my heroes of then they're not now. I hate the idea of old rock stars on zimmer frames. what was should be on best of cds, not on stage...today's music belongs today...I've made it clear now each to their own time so some of us can have nostalgia....halleluia :p xx

^^^This all about LedZep's pension fund.

^^^I saw the original band for a fiver at empire Pool wembley in the...err...very early 70s, when Page could still hack it, Plant could sing and Bonham (John) grooved the house down. Wouldn't pay ten bob to see them now, though i understand why people want to see this incarnation.

I was always too young to appreciate/be interested in the slightest in Led Zeppelin. At 39 I still feel that way...

Zeppelin, Hendrix, The Beatles, The Doors, Pantera. I shit em all.

Published by JazzRTC at 1:04pm on Tue 2nd October 2007.

It's all safe music for people who were/are scared to delve a little deeper into the rock pool. I shit 'em all too.

Poison are a better band than the Beatles.
