They've never been called punk funk. It's more that simplistic blues-punk stuff that the white stripes do.

her voice is character-full but all the songs appear to be in the same key and with just bass and drums and her.... it tires easily.

I agree with this. I like (from what I've read) her persona and political views etc, however.

I should lend you one of the albums i bought when they played the Portland in 2001, Jude

Yes, do. They're kind of a band I'd like to like, if you see what I mean.

They have a guitarist already. They need a bassist.

I've never seen em or heard their music but I like the fact she is a lesbian with a transgendered boy/girl friend.

Published by Three Headed Lizard at 1:28pm on Wed 25th July 2007.

... and a feminist lesbian at that.

Like many bands which used to be good (such as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) they released a few good early records. Then changed their sound to become more commercial and boring and then became massively successful.
Selling records or keeping Rob happy... not an easy choice to make. It must keep so many bands awake at night.

As someone who runs a small and distinctly un-profitable record shop type thing, I think it sucks!

Off home in a minute so not really got time to get into this properly...

Tix still available for this btw - did anyone see em at Reading/Leeds?

BTW, Editors, Maximo Park, Ian Brown are all now sold out at the Cornex.

Methinks the promoters did put it into too large a venue...

Have to disagree mate - its selling more than a Junction, but less than a Cornex at the mo'.

Well yeah, but maybe it should have been in UEA or something? It's the midground between the two.

i know ... its called punk-funk, but its not really that funky.

Most actual punk-funk isn't actually especially funky. People like Gang Of Four and A Certain Ratio cribbed the clipped syncopated guitar sound of funk, but generally sound all angular, cold and reverb soaked, rather than funky.

Am I only the only one who caught their Glastonbury set on the telly? Whilst the music's pretty straightforward the performance had an energy and intensity that elevated it miles above the mediocre rubbish that surrounded it.

Just my 2p's worth.

Support confirmed as: Panther and No Bra.

I'm told that 'No Bra' appears topless wearing a false mustache.

Make of that what you will!
