DURACELL
(Adaadat)

Duracell is Andre Diamant/Andrew Dymond, unique one-man live-drumming phenomenon from Lyon. Using lightning-precision playing on a stripped-down kit and electronic triggers to play 8-bit chiptunes, noise rock, he isn't afraid to acknowledge his influences via covers of the likes of Lightning Bolt, Aphex Twin alongside his favourite retro games such as Space Harrier and Turrican. Duracell is mainly a live project but Andre has recorded with DJ Scotch Egg.

SUNSHINE REPUBLIC

Motorik rhythms and towering and collapsing walls of extreme guitar/electronic/vocal noise. Recently seen at the Long Division half-dayer and also supporting Duracell on several dates around the UK.

JELLICA

8-bit lofi chip-punk pop on Gameboys, Amigas, Commodore 64s and 80s keyboards. Previously seen at Bad Timing supporting Gay Against You and Max Tundra.

'Electronic glitch pop ... intermingled with gabba interludes, and covers of Prince and Kenny Loggins. Live performances noted for face painting and readings from the Razzle letters page.' Drowned in Sound

More importantly, Lightening Bolt tributes! Where is Steventtg-repair?

This would be the day before pay day wouldn't it.

Why am I always doing a gig elsewhere (this time Bethnell Green) when Bad Timing put things on? *sulks*

FH: $R asked for support for Noxagt last year but we'd already booked Hunting Lodge and Fuck Buttons

cd/SR: This and July 2nd were the only dates the Port had by the time I booked this (which is a good thing generally, but I'd rather have had it earlier in the month).

Did you have a good time at Supersonic BT?

Personally i thought it was wall to wall quality! Shit and Shine, Miasma and Migrant were particularly great in my opinion!

Yeah, I reckon it was the best yet -- was really glad they'd stopped using the small theatre for bands so you could finally see whatever you wanted. Saw lots of things I haven't managed to see before -- Otto von Schirach, Jazkamer, Drop The Lime, Oxbow, OM etc.

Edited for not having read the original post thoroughly enough.

Anyway, bump.

I am standing behind the gig room door in the bar of the Portland. Whoever is on right now is (I believe it is the Sunshine Republic, ironic??) are pure filth. Where is Parrish when you need him to pull a shit eatting grin?

Oooh, get you and your on the spot laptop gig reporting (I'll possibly be doing the same thing onstage from Goo at some point if they still have that wireless router there)

Damn my payday being Wednesday. Although Duracell's less impressive when you work out how he does it, I still really wanted to see him.

I was sadly not in attendance to provide said shit-eating grins but Sunshine Republic are exactly as you described. Filth.

How was Duracell?

Fantastic! Only saw a few minutes as i was supposed to be working but i could hear it all. I'm pretty sure he covered a bit of the legend of zelda however i found the soundtracks at home and i could match the bit he played. Curious to find out if i was right now.

Enjoyed Space Harrier and Turrican especially. Pretty sure he slipped the into to Ride the Sky by Lightning Bolt in there too.

Sunshine Republic were pretty convincing. They could probably lose the drummer though. Or get a better one.

Enjoyed Jellica very much, especially the 'house' number.
