Cambridge? In a band? Want some hype?

OK, plan is fanziney wotsit with accompanying free CD with a track from each band/artist/thing. The general idea being we actually promote ourselves, big each other up and have something to show what great music there is in Cambridge. The possibilities, whilst not quite endless are quite cool.

Bands so far on board are listed below, add yourself if you'd like to be a part of it. All genres included, if you want to be involved we'll happily have you. Plus, if you've said you'll be involved we'll expect a hand somewhere along the way. God knows how this is all going to pan out but I think it could be quite cool, lots of love, me x

ABA just said: If you had a fanzine with 5 bands featured in each, it could be a nifty little inter-band competition to come up with the best product. If there were 4 or 5 little zines/CDR's produced, like a collectors series, that would be amazing. Five bands, ten pages, ten songs... collect them all.

I have a mass CD burner that (when it's not being arsey with me) can be stacked up with 150 CDs and left to burn.

All we need is a little cash for CDs and paper.

Likewise, you should have my e-mail too mate. And, to help get a bit of attention outside of Cambridge, I can include the zine/CD in one of my mailouts to press contacts at work. We have a database of over 100 websites/other zines.. so we can get some reviews in there too!

Just as an idea, would you think it would be worth having one band design another bands page? Or are we gonna have one type of layout to make it fair and consistant?

It's a fanzine, Jazzs. We just find the geekiest WANer and they do it all by hand in crayon. Then we find the oldest photocopier we can, make loads of copies and staple them together unevenly.

No I said I thought it was a good idea, GL put the PRK on the list and I let it go when I made the new topic.

Fine, I'll edit us out until this is discussed, I knew I'd get in trouble for trying to do something, again. If I'm going to get attacked everytime I do something like this.

Not sure about bands page layouts jazz , you could have a standard basica layout and then the bands can customise them , i would say it will have to be Black and white do to cost restrictions , i can cover all the printing no problem.

If i can help out, i was thinking of sorting out some big posters, for whose playing where each week and see if we can put them up in HMV and other prominenent places in town, so people have no excuse to say i didnt know they were on etc lalalala
