Really getting into Foals at the moment. Loving the tracks on Myspace, but is there any way of hearing more, or is that all they've released?

Published by BennyG at 2:12pm on Fri 28th September 2007.

Unfortunately it states that the gig is 18+ on their myspace, on wegottickets.com - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/19664 so you can't really claim you didn't know.

Published by simon_b (not active) at 4:24pm on Fri 28th September 2007.

oh no i wudn't claim i didn't know... i did see that it was 18+ straight after i got tickets but i jus saw in the posts earlier that u said u may be able to change it and i thought i'd try my luck! ha. it'd be absolutley amazing if u cud but don't mean to be a nuisance jus trying everything possible u kno! xx

Heheh no worries.

As much as it pains me to say it, I think I would have enjoyed their Truck gig 1000x more if it was 18+. I adore their music but that show was utterly ruined for me by tossers in the crowd and tits on stage (what was that even about?)

Published by turkeyphant at 6:11pm on Fri 28th September 2007.

I was amused watching eyegrode be grumpy on the edge of the stage but I was quite drunk by that point. drunky drunk drunk.

So many dicks...lozzy at that truck gig, one guy was smoking yannis' cigarettes on his amp and tried to steal his inhaler! The foals houseparty after the show is on *suezroadjustoffmillroad* shhhhh....

Possibly not the best idea to tell people where that is, I'd hate to be the neighbours.

Or maybe that's 3 times a career. I don't think they've played any more times than that, maybe even less.

Foals played on February 9th and now, 7 months and 17 days later they are back. Not exactly prolific Cambridge gig whores.

Will there be tickets available on the door for this? Got a mate who wants to come along, but he's living in the dark ages and doesn't have internet access :-)

Published by BennyG at 12:37pm on Sat 29th September 2007.

That was a good gig. Ended up doing a one man barrier for the first three songs til the soul tree security stopped scratching their arses, but dead good. I pity the people who are having the house party...

I'm wondering what time it got raided. We were outside for a little while, and it seemed fairly loud when Foals were playing, and one of the neighbours told us they were going to phone the police if it didn't quieten down within 10 minutes. Although maybe spending the whole day salvaging what's left of the house is worth the legendary status they'll now have with their friends.

Published by Robadob at 2:51am on Sun 30th September 2007.

Call me an old git, but if it was 1am on a Sunday and i had a band playing next door and 100 drunk people making noise, i'd be pissed off...

Published by simon_b (not active) at 10:23am on Sun 30th September 2007.

I went to the party (not the gig though), it was actually alright and it didn't get raided, everyone just dispersed at about 2:30 when the band cleared off. One Foal was displaying an impressively broken tooth when I got there. I totally fliered the shit out of the party, met some nice indiesoc people, drank Guinness then went and found the Werewolves. I don't think I'm totally sober yet...

and it didn't get raided

I'm frankly amazed, unless they turned things down. The man complaining was from across the street, so god knows what it sounded like in the terraces next door, unless they were invited and weren't trying to get to sleep. I'd hate to be the person sorting out the carnage now, though.

Published by Robadob at 1:00pm on Sun 30th September 2007.

When I got there the bands had stopped and it wasn't massively loud, they only had a pretty small stereo in there. The noise of the people would've probably been annoying if you lived within a few doors but it was just a normal party really and seemed to wind down relatively early.

Published by Mattstep at 1:11pm on Sun 30th September 2007.

This is my most old man message ever!

I remember the day I discovered foam ear plugs. I can now sleep soundly in the same house as the party!

I've just come back from a tour in Scandinavia, and we spent most of the week staying with drunk Danes or in communal hostels. The ear plugs were worth thousands.

They also would have come in handy last night- the sound in the Soul Tree was so loud that you could hear very little beyond the rhythm section. I liked the second support band a lot (I missed the first) but spent most of the rest of the evening arguing with Ben about Foals. I thought they sounded like completely generic indie disco. I heard some cool African elements at points but they'd disappear shortly afterwards in a bog standard pea soup beat. Maybe it was the crap sound hiding their subtle elements. People obviously like them.

Published by mwhite (not active) at 1:17pm on Sun 30th September 2007.

I thought they were excellent as usual. The party after was pretty damn good too. Fair play to the guy whos house it was as I know I wouldn't have wanted to have a party like that at mine.
Also Robadob I met you after the gig last night, do you know where I can get that Cyndi Lauper Dizzee Rascal remix from?

I can't remember where I got it from, being honest, but it's probably hype machinable. Go to http://hypem.com/ and search for Girls Just Wanna Fix Up, and it'll probably link to a blog that has it on.
