The Alliance Française Cambridge is thrilled to announce that it is time to celebrate Bastille Day, and also the 35th Anniversary of the Alliance Française in Cambridge.

As celebrations are held across France and around the world, it is only right and proper that Cambridge participate in such a memorable event!

Please join us to celebrate our 35th Anniversary and Bastille Day, on Friday the 14th of July, from 6.30pm for a drinks reception at Trinity Hall, Cambridge followed by a sumptuous dinner at 7.30pm in this exceptional setting on the banks of the Cam, with a live performance by French gypsy jazz band, Rushing Roulotte.

The Alliance Française will be running a tombola to raise money for our organisation. Splendid prizes will include 14 French lessons, 2 tickets for the Beaujolais Nouveau wine evening, and a bottle of champagne.

3-course dinner:
Starter:
– Smoked Local Duck Breast with Confit Duck Rillettes, Watercress Salad and Blood Orange Gel
– Crispy Crumbed Avocado Fritter with Heritage Beetroot Salad and Chilli Pesto (Vegetarian)

Main:
– Chilli-Marinated Fillet of Bass with Chargrilled Leeks, Sea Vegetables Sautéed Potatoes, Pineapple Salsa & Coriander Oil
– Tarte Fleur of Seasonal Vegetables with Cambridge Blue Cheese & Potato Gnocchi, Watercress Salad and Balsamic Vinaigrette (Vegetarian)

Dessert:
– Jasmine Crème Brûlée with Orange Sorbet and Fresh Raspberries

Each ticket includes a drinks reception, a 3-course dinner. Still and sparkling water will be freely available, and we offer a selection of wine bottles for advance purchase at the time of booking.

Red Wines:
– Recchia “Poderi del Roccolo” Barolino, Italy £19
(A delicious red from the Veneto in Italy. Full of crunchy cherry fruit, soft tannins and good acidity)

– Dona Paula “Paula” Malbec, 2015 Argentina £22
(Deep in color and smoky on the nose with black cherry. This Malbec is rich and full with lovely dark berry and cherry fruits, spice, pepper, hints of liquorice and chocolate)

– Château St. Jacques de Siran (Margaux), 2011 France £29
(Clean nose with a ripe fruity character enchanced by a subtle oak touch. Full, velvety entry, polished tannins and a finish tinged with a hint of bitterness. Lovely fullness and length)

White Wines:
– Macon-Charnay Reserve Personnelle, 2014 France £26
(Dry, crisp and pure, it has lovely lemony fruit with a touch of riper stone fruit. Good acidity and a gentle nutty character on finish)

– Pasquiers Sauvignon Vermentino, France £19
(The luscious Exotic fruit aromas from the Vermentino are balanced by the clean, zingy greengage fruit of Sauvignon, resulting in a wonderfully aromatic white)

– Apello Sauvignon Blanc, 2015 New Zealand £26
(Crisp and tangy, herbaceous with zesty citrus allied to passion fruit, blackcurrant, elderflower & peach)

We are offering a very limited number of tickets at an early-bird discount, so act fast if you want to secure one (or several). We will also offer an instalment payment plan for full-rate tickets.

Advance – early-bird tickets: £55 (before 20th June only; very limited number)

Full-price tickets: £60

Payment plan available: £31 x 2 for early-bird tickets / £32.50 x 2 for full-price tickets

First payment must be made by 30th June 2017
