Extinction Rebellion Cambridge is holding another introduction to non-violent direct action - both theory and practice. This is your chance to join this growing diverse and peaceful movement of people united to demand action on climate change.

We will provide a briefing about Extinction Rebellion and our campaign to address the climate emergency, which began in Autumn last year with thousands of people joining together to take part in mass civil disobedience in the centre of London.

This campaign is based on PhD research on effective campaign mobilisation, and experience which so far has led Kings College University London, Cardiff University and Bristol University to agree to divest from fossil fuels.

You will find out how you can take part in local actions in the run up to a sustained mass civil disobedience in London starting on April 15th to demand action on the climate emergency.

This training will cover how to de-escalate tense situations, how to interact with police, what to do if you get arrested and much more.

We will go through action essentials and practice of nonviolent techniques, and create affinity groups for people in the Cambridge area (or outside the area as required).

Affinity groups are made up of 8-12 people who work together and support each other on the day of the action and preparing for it. Group members choose whether they take on non-arrestable or arrestable roles and both are equally important.

Please register via this eventbrite link to attend:www.facebook.com/events/503370576855936/

On the day registration will open at 10am, we have a lot to do together so please arrive by 10.15 am for a prompt 10.30am start.

Tea and coffee will be available, please bring your own lunch.

Training will take place in the old school hall, which is wheelchair accessible and has comfortable chairs.

Training will finish by 5pm
