The Whybirds are a four piece rock 'n' roll/alt.country band from Bedford, England.

All four members (Dave Banks, Ben Haswell, Taff Thatcher and Luke Tuchscherer) are singer/songwriters – giving the group a diverse range of songs and vocal styles – but without straying from The Whybirds' sanguine brand of rock 'n' roll.

Classic Rock journalist Derek Oliver said: "If you are at all interested in alt.country rock then you’ll love The Whybirds. They have it all; songs, musicianship and a sense of maturity that most acts of this kind can’t even comprehend. I’ve lost count of the amount of times that Q, Uncut or Word magazine has banged on about alt-country artists to hear music that sounds like its been recorded in a bathroom by clueless embryonic singer/songwriters.

"These guys are the real deal – think Flying Burrito Brothers, Tom Petty and The Band. Better looking than the early Eagles and every inch as determined, you’ll be hearing more of these guys some time soon."

According to Americana UK, The Whybirds "...sound like Pearl Jam having a fist fight with The Allman Brothers in Don Henley’s back yard. But what’s more important is that The Whybirds might just be the hardest working and hardest rocking band in Britain right now – a band destined for greatness".

The band have just released their second album, Cold Blue Sky, which is available now from their official website and from iTunes, Amazon and other digital media.

BrightLight City!
are ridiculously catchy, primed with harmonic hooks aplenty that will have the Kaisers gnashing with envy. A truly expansive sound that’s sweetly blistered with a subtle post punk austereness with layers upon layers of jagged riffage and set to a pulse pounding panic stricken indie pop dynamic. The kind of searing seduction only ever found on records bearing the name Shortwave Fade. They venture into territories more commonly associated with the White Rose Movement, with a subtle early career Cure like edge to them.”
