A feast of baroque music will be heard at St Edward's Church to bring to life the musical world of Samuel Pepys, the great 17th century diarist.

The concert will involve songs that Pepys knew and sang and his own composition “Beauty Retire” will also be featured. Recorders, viola da gamba and harpsichord will be used in accompaniment.

Illustrating the music will be readings from Pepys' famous diary, showing the man in all his culture and variety and illustrating the musical love and accesible humanity of this great writer. The concert will be as much a treat for the lover of literature as for the lover of music.
