BENNY GALLAGHER

SEATS SOLD OUT. Standing tickets at £6.

For sheer quality and distinction you need look no further than the career of Benny Gallagher. One half of hit makers and songwriters Gallagher & Lyle, he began his career as a staff writer with the Beatles music publishing company, Apple writing songs for Apple Records' biggest artist Mary Hopkin under the constant encouragement of Paul McCartney.

In 1970 his and Graham Lyle’s astute composing ability propelled the band McGuinness-Flint to the top of the charts with hit songs "When I’m Dead and Gone" and "Malt and Barley Blues". Then came the duo’s own string of successes – the richly romantic Heart on my Sleeve and I Wanna Stay With You. Their Breakaway album was a huge success – even more so when the title track was covered by Art Garfunkel. Garfunkel also later recorded the duo's "A Heart In New York" and performed it at Simon & Garfunkel's famous concert in central park, New York, to an audience of 500,000.

On record he has worked with Paul McCartney, Eric Clapton, Pete Townsend, Ronnie Lane, Ronnie Wood, Gary Brooker, Georgie Fame, Mary Hopkin, Elkie Brooks, Ralph McTell, Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention. Between song-writing visits to Nashville, and composing soundtracks for film and television he has toured Australia, the Middle and Far East, Europe and the U.K. as bassist and vocalist with The Manfreds and Dennis Locorriere – "The Voice of Dr. Hook".

Artists who have recorded Benny Gallagher songs include Art Garfunkel, Bryan Ferry, Colin Blunstone, Don Williams, Elkie Brooks, Fairport Convention, Garth Brooks, Judith Durham, Mary Hopkin, Phil Everly, Ringo Starr, Ricky Nelson, Rita Coolidge, Simon and Garfunkel, Status Quo and Jim Capaldi.

ARIEL THIERMANN
Vocalist, pianist, and songwriter Ariel Thiermann from the USA is a dynamic performer with a unique gift at blending fresh poetic imagery with evocative melody. On her latest CD, "Behold", she mixes pop, jazz, folk, and rock to create an authentic sound all her own.

She began performing at the age of five on stage alongside her mother, children's recording artist Linda Arnold and by the time Ariel was eight years old she was recording and touring nationally. At the age of twelve she performed on the Disney Channel and recorded for Walt Disney Records and at fifteen began branching out into her own musical pursuits in the a-cappella trio Mayim who performed their intricate harmonies all over the Bay Area.

She is now a seasoned performer who along with her solo performances has hosted and performed with symphonic orchestras around the Bay Areas and is the leader of four choirs. "songs of depth and passion married to nuanced musical arrangements" - Santa Cruz Sentinel.
