Worried about this summer's severe heatwaves and other climate impacts including flooding and biodiversity loss? Come to our free Community Climate Talk with scientist Dr Charlie Gardner. He will describe how the Climate and Ecological Emergency is affecting us, and local environmentalists will share their stories about taking action.

Dr Gardner, a conservation lecturer and climate researcher, said: “This country has never been this hot before in human history. We need to wake up as a society, and our leaders need to start taking serious action.” He is part of a team of scientists touring 20 towns and cities to discuss the climate crisis, share their knowledge, and help communities respond.

It is a chance for people to share their hopes and fears, meet other concerned citizens, and discuss how we can come together to tackle the emergency. The event is free, with refreshments and snacks provided, so people can mingle, chat and ask questions.

Dr Gardner, who plans to write popular climate science books to reach more people, adds: “The situation is so urgent now because we’ve ignored it for so long. We have a moral obligation to act because this is our world, it’s all we have.”

This event will be in room J3 at The Cambridge Junction, please check the Junction website for accessibility information
