Join us and learn more about Climate Change and its effects on society with our guest speaker: Deborah Pardo, a 30 year old French post-doc at the British Antarctic Survey. She studies how climate change and intensive fisherie drive the catastrophic declines of albatross populations in Antarctica. She recently became a mum and is also now an ambassador for the cause of working women. She is the only French and one of the three UK women scientists to have been selected for an incredible all-women international expedition to Antarctica in December 2016 to receive a state-of the art leadership training and become the leaders and role-models of tomorrow.
Deborah Pardo will give a talk about the Women and the Climate. The World is changing because of human action and women are in the forefront. During this evening we will discuss the position of women according the environmental challenges in both developing and developed countries. What makes them particularly vulnerable and what makes them our best chance to save the planet at the same time.
The talk will be in English but you are welcome to ask questions in French as well.
The evening will be introduced by a photography exhibition named “Climate – State of Emergencyâ€
All profits will go the the joint crowdfunding page of the Homeward Bound UK team that includes Deborah and two other UK women scientists. Find more information: https://www.futsci.com/project/women-antarctic-leadership
