Following his memorable performance in Cambridge Junction for the Monomania festival last March, he returns to Cambridge for what promises to be an intense and intimate headline show following the release of his acclaimed album 'Nothing Important' in late 2014.

"Nothing Important is a remarkable record - at times deeply, painfully intimate, but also witty, bawdy, surreal, disquieting, nostalgic, brash and fearlessly individual. While Dawson draws loosely on folk traditions, be it from the North East of England, the Appalachian Mountains or the Gulf of Arabia, his sound also brings to mind more modern sources - Beefheart, Earth, Loren Mazzacane Connors, Bill Orcutt, Sun City Girls, tiny glimpses of drone, minimalism, avant-metal, math-rock, psychedelia. It's all of these things and yet none of them."

C Joynes

C Joynes's guitar playing is built on heavy thumb-led finger-picking technique that harks back to traditional country-blues and early ragtime, however, he uses this technique to explore alternative melodic traditions and hypnotic music from all sources: the English folk-tune; North and West African music; elements of classical Indian music; as well minimalist composition.
Recent activities include recording with Dead Rat Orchestra and English folk singer Stephanie Hladowski.
