Venue: Cambridge City Hotel
Category: Talks & Classes
Price Info: Free
Time Info: 17:00 - 20:00

The Train to Teach roadshow, organised by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL), is the most comprehensive event of its kind. It gives new graduates and those considering a career change the chance to discover more about the rewards and opportunities of becoming a teacher.

Cambridge’s Train to Teach event provides the opportunity for aspiring teachers to learn more about how to get into the profession and the different training routes available, including School Direct. People can meet with representatives from local schools and universities who offer teacher training, as well as current teachers and teaching experts for practical tips and one-to-one advice.

Bursaries and prestigious scholarships worth up to £25,000 tax free are currently being offered to top graduates who choose to get into teaching. At the event, subject associations who are offering scholarships for people interested in teaching key subjects will be on hand with information about the financial support available.

Charlie Taylor, Chief Executive of the National College for Teaching and Leadership, said: “Teaching is a brilliant job and increasingly a career of choice for top graduates as it offers a competitive salary and excellent opportunities for people who want to progress. The bursaries and scholarships that we are offering this year will give even more great people the opportunity to become teachers.

“Teachers change the lives of young people for the better, fuelling their enthusiasm for the subject they love and helping them to reach their full potential. It’s a fulfilling career and a chance to inspire the next generation. I would urge anyone considering becoming a teacher to come along to the event in Cambridge to find out more about the profession and the training options available.”

The “Train to Teach” roadshow is taking place on Thursday 27th November at the Cambridge City Hotel, Downing Street, Cambridge, CB2 3DT from 5pm – 8pm.

Entrance to the event is free and you can register at the venue on the day.

Those interested in becoming a teacher are encouraged to register with NCTL to receive a comprehensive programme of support and guidance. For more information, call the Teaching Line on 0800 389 2500.
