Dr Charlotte Tulinius will talk about how traditional dancing and chanting give new hope for a change in the otherwise challenging life for girls growing up in a small Maasai community in Kenya. Despite Kenyan legislation the tradition is still very early marriages, and the preparation of the girl bride includes genital mutilation. Anglia Ruskin University is part of Mission Maasai supporting this community. Dr Tulinius is Associate Professor, University of Copenhagen; Senior Member, St. Edmund's College, University of Cambridge; convenor of two researchers' fora at University of Cambridge University and Educational consultant for East African Health Professions Educators' Association, Kenya.

The talk is part of our celebration of International Women's Day 2014.
