Since the 1960s gradual liberalisation of attitudes towards non-normative sexuality has been mirrored in popular music with the emergence of overtly LGBT voices. This talk outlines that process, looking at attitudes to, portrayal of and promotion of LGBT musicians, taking in artists as diverse as Dusty Springfield and Dana International amongst others.
