Thursday 25th October 2012

Category: Talks & Classes
One Liner: Festival of Ideas

Much science fiction and fantasy involves imagining worlds where our dreams - or our nightmares - have come true. These genres allow us the opportunity to imagine a universe in which interplanetary exploration, cloning and time travel are taken for granted, or a world in which magic is an everyday reality and animals can talk. Of course one person's dream might be another person's worst nightmare - and in this session we will hear a range of perspectives, from both science fiction writers and researchers, on the ways in which science fiction and fantasy can help us explore our hopes and fears for the future. As well as stimulating short papers from experts in the field, there will be a panel discussion in which all are invited to participate.
Age suitability: 12+ years
No need to book, Please arrive on time.
